I am so excited to share this project with you! The Artist’s Reverie is a podcast that opens up the world of artists and creativity, past and present.
As a longtime podcast listener, I’ve always had a secret interest in hosting my own show. I was too shy and lacked the confidence to start when the inspiration first hit. It has taken a long time to finally dive in and I’m so happy I did. Whether this remains a small family of kindred creative souls or we grow to a larger community, I’ll be so thrilled to have share my love for art, the creative process, and slower living in this fast paced world.
So what is this podcast about?
It is meant to inspire you to create and to find joy in the everyday. Hopefully, I will be able to share knowledge about painting and the history of art through quiet contemplation. Perhaps down the road we can get chatty about the business side or even feature other creatives, but for now, this is meant to be an immersive experience, an artist’s meditation and reverie, placing you in the shoes of the creative explorer. Through storytelling, I hope that you will be able to relax into your creative practice and discover new places and joy in the simple things. Some days we’ll be in the art studio; other days, we’ll be strolling through the halls of Musee d’Orsay or the Museo del Prado. We’ll explore different artistic media and dive into the histories of paintings and pigments.
Don’t worry, this isn’t a lecture. It is, as I said, a meditation that celebrates creativity and the art of slow living in our fast paced world. It is about seeing the beauty in something as simple as making a cup of coffee with intention as well as the awe-inspiring beauty of grand architecture. I want to tell you stories and share little moments and reveries. I encourage you to use your imagination and really feel what it’s like to start a painting on a rainy spring day or grab a café con leche before you head in to the museum to see masterpieces by Goya.
Art is Healing
With how fast the world spins by, more and more souls are experiencing burnout and some form of mental exhaustion. There is always vacation but realistically, who can take one of those every time we feel a bit tired of racing around. I’m not an art therapist (maybe one day), but I know that creating art and exploring beautiful places can be healing.
I have lots of exciting plans for this reverie. In some episodes there will be an accompanying video featuring a painting coming to life or outdoor exploration or even peaceful puttering around the home and studio. In the future perhaps we will even get to the Prado in Spain or to the quiet hills of England in these videos. Until then, we have our imaginations, pens, pencils, paints, papers, yarns… whatever you are called to use!
I hope you join me on this journey and any comments or suggestions are very much welcome. The first season will be launching soon!
