Video: Sketchbook Tour #1

Welcome to my first sketchbook tour!

I don’t typically share my sketchbooks. As an art instructor and professional working on commissions, I’ve always been hesitant to share my sketchbook with anyone other than a page here and there. What would my students and clients think of the mess and mistakes?

Perhaps I still don’t really share them with my clients but I’ve come to learn that my students appreciate seeing some of the behind the scenes in an art practice. It is after all, a practice. In order to achieve those polished pieces one needs a space where you can experiment with zero pressure. That is precisely what a sketchbook is for: a space to experiment, try new things, make mistakes and learn how to correct them.

If you’re ever stuck for ideas, sign up for my newsletter and I’ll send you a list of over 55 sketchbook prompts to help you tackle those blank pages!

And now without further ado, here’s a look inside one of my watercolour sketchbooks!
